I just refuse to believe that counting calories and logging my food is the ONLY way to successfully lose weight. I just feel like there has to be a more natural, realistic way to learn more about portion control and such, without counting calories and weighing food.

cooking your own food can definitely make a lot of difference! but i think what we dont give enough credit is that those folks have only ever eaten like that; thats 90% of whats available; americans have a built-in food addiction pushed on most of us

Yes but there are people from other countries here who eat the food and stay fit too. It's just how Americans eat unfortunately. Adopting an Asian/ Carribean diet for me helps keep the fat away. Plus walking every night

they are much more active than we are. we spend so much time in our cars and our neighborhoods aren’t walkable. when I lived abroad, I lost weight bc I was walking and biking literally everywhere

it’s in the lifestyle
American was build for cars most other countries were not
People walk everywhere and zoning laws are different so a grocery store and other shops are 5 mins from your home meaning. You have access and o fresh fruit and veg usually for cheap plus exercise

It’s the food somewhat but also our dependence on cars and our overall sedentary lifestyle in the states. But yes we eat more b/c the food doesn’t signal to our brains that we’re actually full, b/c lots of our diet is ultra processed & lacks nutrients while being calorie dense
