What’s better writing :
1. Guy who is catholic and happens to LOOK like a devil. Whose purpose in the story is to be the mutant who can’t hide their powers like the others and still deserves love despite how he looks
2. Guy who is catholic and also a devil
I fully grasp why capeshit sucks now when the people who consume it don't understand why a Catholic person looking like a devil in a story about overcoming adversity might be important to that character's lore

People who haven't read that run or don't follow Nightcrawler like that won't know. I don't blame them, but at least do research before you talk. It's even on the Marvel wiki

No, but the mythos of Angels and Demons, in-universe, stems from the battle between Cheyarafim and Neyaphem. So, in-universe, there is a real foundation to the idea of demons and Nightcrawler is literally the child of one of those things. I'd say there's little actual difference.

They're still human. They just resemble demons due to their mutation. They have no other relation to demons in Marvel's universe
