I disagree, to an extent. I think in many (definitely not all) cases, it's a way for men to accuse one another of not being genuine.
Not to say it's healthy - it's yet another unfortunate iteration of nice guys/alpha male/etc. "Oh I'm not a simp like X..."

yes they accuse people of not being genuine cause they believe all someone could possibly want from a women is sex and if they say different they're lying. That's precisely the problem
