This is a big lie. I served in Imo State and have friends who served in Enugu. As a youth corp member, I virtually get things free or cheaper anytime I visit the market. And for the records, the Igbos are the least tribalistic tribe in Nigeria.

Think I fully came alive to it during NYSC. Served in Enugu. During Èké Market days, native Igbo speakers bought stuff at lower prices than we non-Igbos. And it was the most confusing thing. Eventually had to start sending our Igbo colleagues to buy stuff on our behalf.
