Other than stand there while the national anthem is played, what exactly were they supposed to do? A gymnastics routine? Perform a flash mob dance? Do the Macarena? Jesus Christ, give the culture wars and manufactured outrage a rest already. It’s exhausting.

No, putting your hand over your heart is for the pledge. I never put my hand over my heart for the Anthem. I stood stoically with hands clasped behind me, letting the sound run through me and mentally preparing for the competition ahead of me. It must be exhausting being such ❄️

I go to lots of sporting events and most people do not. And most athletes do not — including football players at the Super Bowl. Most just stand at attention and if wearing a hat, remove it.
