Unfortunately, neither. I'm inclined to side ideologically with the CIS, but the corruption endemic in the Republic leeched directly into the Separatists. Sith aside, the Republic and CIS were both run by corporate interests. I feel bad for anyone living through the Clone War.
@TheLetterbomber
Setting aside the fact that the Clone Wars were a manufactured conflict by the Sith to shroud the Grand Plan, which side had more of a moral high ground?
@TheLetterbomber
Seriously, these are brilliant answers. Where have you been all my Twitter life? And I agree, what makes the prequels next-level storytelling is the nuance that far too many people miss. The Republic and the Jedi are definitely not the 'good guys."
@Alarcos
I'm not out here both sidesing the fucking Empire, I'm talking about two horrible corrupt institutions that masqueraded as legitimate and Canonically neglected their citizenry. They both suck ass, it's silly to pretend otherwise. There simply isn't a moral side in the Clone War.
@Aitipse3
I feel the most sympathy for the population of Separatist worlds, and some for their senators, but very little for the people among them actually calling the shots.
@TheLetterbomber
CoUld thiS perhAps be a metaphor for a country where both sides are run by corporations eventually falling into fascism? Guess weโll never know.
@TheLetterbomber
Iโd argue things were a tiny bit better during the Imperial Era and thatโs mainly due to the Corporations being nationalized and corruption usually being stomped out 9/10.
@Cooper15Trooper
Ehhh the Empire used and instrumentalized systems of corporate oppression and organized crime to control people. "It is a lawless time" and all thatโthe Empire only stomped out the things that might interfere with its own authoritarian rule
@TheLetterbomber
Every time I watch episodes of the Clone Wars I feel more and more like Iโm living in them tbh. Which is kind of the point? But the stressful thing for me is I know how those wars endedโฆ and it wasnโt pretty.
