Last couple OP chapters have converted me to the camp of not liking the Celestial Dragons as antagonists. Just too over the top evil to be impactful or compelling at this point.
Something I've noticed is that the faster pacing in Egghead is really exposing some of the issues Oda has in general with overloading emotional moments.
Something I shouldn't have to make clear but apparently do is that "over the top" refers to what is unnecessary, not unrealistic. This is a story, where once an idea has been properly established, continuing to harp on it with doing enough to evolve it is over doing it.
@TheAniTaker
too over the top? dude touch grass. read some history. Oda didn't even touch upon the worst of humanity yet, and I think he will eventually do.
@TheAniTaker
I mean that's what celestial dragons have always been. This is such a dumb nitpick. The compelling villains were always supposed to be the gorosei since they are the ones who care about balance
@TheAniTaker
What are you even talking about.
The CD's aren't meant to be the main antagonists, the people keeping them in power are.
99% of OP criticism comes from yall not understanding the story
@TheAniTaker
You people just want villain that you can self insert. I know people like you. You want villain to be morally Grey not too evil so that you can self insert. But if it's too evil. You can't self insert. So you hated them. We know people like you.
@TheAniTaker
Ehhh I think you’re missing the point of the fact that they’re simply the figureheads. They’re not meant to be taken seriously as antagonists, they’re meant to direct the attention away from the one whose really in charge. The irony in Imu calling members of the D empty husks -
@TheAniTaker
It’s literally called the World Government idk what you expected.
These people have believed they are Gods for centuries, why would they have any real humanity?
