Regardless of whether or not you agree with this decision, you must all recognize that making this announcement late on New Years Eve comes off like you’re all trying to avoid people seeing it with everyone celebrating.
Furthermore, this is not me saying whether or not I agree with the investigation, this is simply me talking about the optics, and being worried because I believe in the content other members of OTK produce
I cannot begin to talk about how much I support Cy, esfand, and Yungjeff, who I have had the pleasure of interacting with. This is why I am critical of whoever made this decision.
@Th3ValeOfficial
My thoughts exactly. I'm only here wondering how long they took to get this conclusion, mainly because rich Campbell is another problem they have and Schlatt left like what, a month ago?
@justRedX_
well no, those are separate issues. they immediately kicked Rich out, and Schlatt left without reason. I am simply talking about releasing this statement on New Year’s Eve
@Th3ValeOfficial
It is a common business tactic to announce news certain days and times. So probably. I think in the scheme it things it doesn't matter. People are still going to be torn either way. I do think people should respect the findings of the investigation and stop clowning OTK for that.
@Th3ValeOfficial
Not necessarily. A lot of people will see it since it was released I think at peak time of the day. However, a lot of content creators may not react since they are off celebrating, that is more akin to what you are saying.
@Th3ValeOfficial
IMO quite the opposite because of how algorithm valence works (you'll be mostly looking at hours-days old tweets instead of newest ones all times, so 1 Jan would give way more reach), but i do agree if the context is the "scope", it does FEEL like they're minimizing reach on purp
@Th3ValeOfficial
Everyone and their moms were on social media to look at who's posting what, and based on the engagement, it's clearly getting a lot more than what it usually gets too.
If their goal was to keep it under the radar then they failed.
@Th3ValeOfficial
That's quite a bad theory, considering a lot of people still saw it. It's not like it's going to magically stop showing up in people's feeds once they're done celebrating. And something as big as this will absolutely get shared across the platform
@Th3ValeOfficial
80% of the post is them shitting on Mizkif (should have been 100%) and then right at the end they're like "oh yeah, he's back btw"
Super scummy. I'm glad that Jschlatt made it out of the org before it now inevitably fails.
@Th3ValeOfficial
Or get this, the investigation finished. They reviewed the material and drafted a public response. It took time to draft, review and approve and they posted upon completion. The time of posting is coincidental and irrelevant because of the wide spread coverage it will see.
