🔥 Today, researchers unveiled the connectome of the male adult fruit fly nerve cord.
🧠 With about 23K neurons, 10 million pre-synaptic sites & 74 million post-synaptic densities, it’s the most in-depth & complete wiring diagram of a fly nerve cord.

I am very happy to share that this fall I will be joining the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at Stony Brook University as an assistant professor! I can't wait to be a part of this collaborative community and be able to pay forward the great training I've experienced.
I had an amazing time this last week in London (Canada, not England) learning about insect respirometry. I’m really excited to start getting the equipment put together and optimized. I’m also incredibly grateful the people I met and experiences I had.
Received a formal acceptance of our manuscript in Genetics today. It took a lot of effort on part of many people to get to this place. My heartfelt gratitude to all the contributing authors and my collaborators

I have a postdoctoral position available on our NIH funded R35 investigating "Molecular, Cellular and Circuits of Nociception Behavior." There are many possible directions of the projects available in the lab (threaded below) or I am open to exploring new ideas. 🧵 Please RT
We have a new preprint out from the lab. In it we describe how Drosophila adapt their developmental rate in low oxygen by suppressing EGF-dependent control of larval maturation.
