It took two decades, but passenger train service between the Twin Cities and Duluth cleared a major hurdle when the Legislature dedicated $195 million for the 152-mile route.
@StarTribune
It was tried before and failed. I do not see what has changed. Cannot really Uber around the sites cost effectively. Cost would be about the same or worse than driving.
@StarTribune
How much will the state need to pay each year to operate the train? Will this be more expensive than funding an airplane or bus route to Duluth?
My guess is that 5 years after it starts the state will be funding the train to keep it operational.
@StarTribune
$195 million reallyโฆ ๐ the Eden Prairie line from Minneapolis wonโt be operational until 2027 and the overrun cost will make it soar to 2.7 billion by the time completion is done. Weโre supposed to believe $195 million to Duluth, what a total waste, it will be 15 times that.
@StarTribune
The entire project will cost nearly a billion to let college students get a cheap between the Cities & UMD. What a bunch of clowns wasting more$$$
