Every farmers' worst nightmare is coming to pass. The mass culling of healthy animals because there simply aren't enough butchers to process them and get them off farms. It's the largest culling of healthy pigs in the history of British farming. So how did we get here?

The backlog of animals on farms has been caused by a labour shortage in the meat processing industry. Vets and farmers have had to cull healthy pigs, and start carrying out abortions on pigs, due to the backlog of animals on farms

@SkyNews If very Brexit voter knew what they were voting for, then presumably they knew they were voting for the mass culling of pigs? Animal welfare is important and wasting food when we have millions using food banks in our country is tragic waste of food resource.

@SkyNews The British #pork industry has a history of being more concerned about profit than welfare. When pigs are killed on #farms , as tragic as it is, they donโ€™t have to endure the misery of transport and agony of gas chambers, @ajpreact told @McKayJournalist .๐Ÿ‘‡
