A teacher slapped my 6 y/o in school and the boy reported at home His offence: “She asked me a question and I was thinking…” Went to the school to drop small “strong words” I agree we can beat a child for bad behaviour but not for being unable to answer a question in class.

@SirJarus Is there a universal definition of what constitutes bad behaviour?

@Or_Mordi Whatever it is, thinking before answering a question is not part of it - for a 6 year old.

@SirJarus What if your child lied? When you got to the school, did you inquire from the teacher what happened?

@SirJarus I don't know if you made enquiry from the other end before the strong words, it 'might' be something he knew and the teacher trying to do a reset with the slap, we need it sometimes, May Almighty Allah guide our wards for us

@SirJarus @Alpha_Yom Before I enroll my child in any school in Nigeria I’ll have words with the Principal and Teacher. I’ll unalive that teacher. Why would I allow some frustrated teacher to take his anger out on my child.

@SirJarus Small word ke? She go collect the slap from me oo after which the boy will leave her the class or she leaves. Can't be paying 100 plus as fees and you slap a child because you asked him a question he couldn't answer you. Teacher ti da ran oo

@SirJarus Slapping itself is wrong. That's not the way to discipline a child.

@SirJarus There was a story here many years ago of how a senior student slapped her junior & displaced her eyeball. You know that condition where one eye is looking at you but the other is looking elsewhere? Knowing this, to slap anyone is wrong. To slap a child warrants serious trouble.

@SirJarus And definitely not a slap. You did well. I would have talked to the teacher hardly too.

@SirJarus This is one of the reasons I'll never give anyone carte blanche over disciplining my child. And there are other ways we can teach kids. Must it be slapping, beating? They know me in my kids schl o. And I'm not shy at letting them see my displeasure

@SirJarus I don't even support teachers physically beating any kid for any reason , leave corporal punishment to the parents to administer
