@globalhlthtwit How can you sack someone just like that? Aren’t there employment laws to protect that?

In other news Kwasi Kwarteng on his first day as Chancellor sacks Tom Scholar, the Permanent Secretary at the Treasury who had been a distinguished civil servant for 30 years.

@SickSide3 @globalhlthtwit It’s perfectly normal practice for many decades for Perm Secs to be moved by new government and/or new minister if the PM feels they will ineffective or obstructive. Nothing new here.

@SickSide3 @globalhlthtwit You’re right. That will have been an unfair dismissal. But there’s a cap on compensation for ordinary unfair dismissal and it is not huge. He’ll have been paid that and probably more. The real question is: how much taxpayers money has been expended to remove his expertise?

@SickSide3 @globalhlthtwit Chances are it's just bad reporting - most likely he hasn't been sacked...but removed from that post/dept

@SickSide3 @globalhlthtwit Fascists do what they like and place the onus on the individual to take action against them. They bank on the individual becoming disenfranchised as the process is laborious and time consuming

@SickSide3 @globalhlthtwit He will get a big payout. I’d wager close to six figures with that length of service

@SickSide3 @globalhlthtwit Presumably just moved from his position in the treasury as opposed to on the dole.

@SickSide3 @globalhlthtwit There will never be a tribunal because HM G will never go there. They will settle out of court and he can write his own six figure cheque.
