Wait till they realize that to run a socialist economy, it'll be the STEM majors (ESP CS, Econ, Finance, Engineering) they despise so much in the Central Committee and not in fact the English major from some liberal arts college π
@constans
Oh I know! The people sociology/liberal arts majors hate the most would be even more essential to the functioning of society. Ironically communism would be amazing for the Wall Street bankers capable of surviving the gulags since their services would be even more indispensable

Lol youβre acting like English majors arenβt overwhelmingly libs.
The hard science people tend to be much more leftists as they have a better understanding of material consequences.

Academia generally skews left but I'd argue more of the hard left came from the humanities and social sciences and moreso on the sociology end than the economics side.
@MarkyMarg2
@constans
they're social sciences (moreso the former) so they are grey but are more adjacent to that than they are humanities that are un-empirical that is for sure

Iβd wager that much of the software you currently use relies on Open Source somewhere in its tech stack. Not to say FOSS == Socialism but just that a lot of tech you use today already benefits from being developed through modes of production that arenβt traditionally capitalist.
