Staff at Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles in Pasadena says the guy in the dark long sleeve refused to put on a mask, got upset when employees insisted, then pulled out a gun and robbed the cook. Thing is—he was just after food. Not cash. Stole some to-go orders and left.

The cook Robert’s account of what happened perhaps sums it up best:
“He came back towards the kitchen...pointing the gun at me...and pretty much said ‘put all the chicken in the bag.’”
He did not take a dime. Apparently just food.
FORTUNATELY everyone was okay. A few employees ran out the back door. Nobody got hurt. Robert, the cook, was a great interviewee so you will want to watch KCAL 9 at 10 and

.......okay, this takes on another dark humor facet when you realize it's a black dude. Denied a CHICKEN AND WAFFLES BREAKFAST. Holding the place up.

A hungry person, during a pandemic with unprecedented rates of unemployment and homelessness, takes food to survive. Meanwhile Pasadena and Los Angeles public officials create the conditions that causes folk’s to steal food. Of all the stories to cover in this time, raggedy.
