I wish there was a Canadian morning/news show that I could stream online that was designed for younger people.
People who are renting, who may or may not have kids, who don’t have cottages, that are paying off student debt, who are single, etc
And of course, representative of…
Wow! Thanks for the support folks!
This tweet was done pre-coffee as I was waiting at my buildings elevator to take my dog out, here’s the full thought post-coffee ⤵️
millennials, Gen Z and non-wealthy people deserve a morning show that resonates with us:

P.S: On Canada Project is already doing so much of this, but in written form. One of my goals for
@oncanadaproject
is to develop a web series/podcast with a video option - but MONEY remains the barrier to us scaling.
(Which, btw, is actually the big unifier of the diverse group…

This! And I'm middleaged. I just watched a segment on a morning show about "parent self-care". One of the tips was to ask grandparents to watch kids. Um, not everyone has this on hand. Or even has extended family or friends to watch their kids. But thanks, I guess for the advice.

Omg did we watch the same one. Bc I screamed. I don’t have kids and I was like — what makes this older white woman an expert on raising all children.
@SamKrish_
Devil's advocate....why do you need a separate show versus media just doing a better job of managing content and viewership? IF a better show WERE to be produced, there would be the benefit of everyone seeing a diversity of circumstance without the downside of siloing perspective
@univrsle
Fair, but also they’ve had decades to do so and haven’t. At some point reform isn’t the answer, the answer is something new all together — new voices, new energy, new perspectives
@TammaraSoma
We’ve tried to pitch a version of this (
@oncanadaproject
) but everyone we goes to is comfortable with the status quo and the expectation is I need to fund this myself and create a proof of concept and maybe they’ll take a chance.
But tbh, if I could fund it myself I wouldn’t…

ALL of this. I'm a middle-aged white woman I can't see myself in Canadian morning shows. I don't (can't) travel, I don't have disposable income, I rent, don't own a cottage, don't take vacations, struggle to afford groceries, currently broke AF. WHO ARE THESE MORNING SHOWS FOR???
@SamKrish_
This might be one of the best ideas I’ve heard all day. I’m decidedly single and childless and watch the news mainly to be informed on what’s happening in politics and government. I don’t try to fitting into any cookie cutters. But this would appeal to wider audiences.
@SamKrish_
I don't check all these boxes, but I do have a cable show that used to be mainly politics; since I started hosting in '21 we also cover more current events, and we end with a youth perspective on every episode. I'm trying! Young people deserve to be heard

Have you considered funding from Canada Media Fund. I don’t know if applications have closed, but this seems like a production they would fund. I also want to see this so boo to traditional media funding sources.
