@JezCorden
The Elden Ring open world UX is incredible. As someone with ADHD, sometimes open world games can be overwhelming with all of the tracking and markers. It gets me into a mode where I just want to get shit done. With Elden Ring I can breathe. It’s a cure for open world fatigue.
Has anybody else in Taipei had trouble reaching their CIA handler? Mine hasn’t responded to my emails in a couple of days. I’m not sure what I’m supposed to be doing right now.
@vicious696
This is exactly what (we) white people need to understand. Whites, specifically in America, have never been excluded from important institutional spaces. It’s ridiculous for us to complain about being excluded from specific things like clubs.
@HuXijin_GT
The fact that you, somebody who is literally paid by the Chinese government, knows her day-by-day plans is definitely not sketchy at all whatsoever.
@koryodynasty
@glorysoblessed
This is actually horrible. Why ruin such beautiful architecture with one of the ugliest, union-busting companies on Earth
People will read Wikipedia and think Chinese people actually had a collective identity during the Qing dynasty. Actually, all of the settlers to Taiwan in the 1700s all had regional identities and fought with each other. The idea of being “Han” was implanted by the KMT.
@MFA_China
Scotland and Taiwan are great comparisons. Scotland is already recognized as a country by the UK and has a right to democratically seek its independence. Wonderful idea for Taiwan as well.
The funniest thing about Ma Ying Jeou in China is how Chinese people are going to think Ma still has power and influence in Taiwan.
I can name ten CPBL cheerleaders with more influence in Taiwan than Ma Ying Jeou.
@Amb_ChenXu
Then why don’t I have any official documentation from the People’s Republic of China? Have I been an illegal immigrant here for almost four years?
Holding elections at local schools is pretty genius. Close for most people and convenient. Only possible because it’s Saturday.
Imagine if the United States was a normal country and didn’t do its election on *checks notes* a fucking Tuesday.
In Taiwan, on this sunny winter Saturday, the presidential election polling has started. Family members are back home. Locals walked to my high school to vote & enjoyed brunch nearby in good mood. Taiwanese can be proud of this seemingly easy
#democracy
, hard-earned over decades.
When the Sunflower movement was happening in Taiwan were the leftists saying it was a CIA coup, despite it being a movement led by local leftists and students
My girlfriend and I had a fight last night and I said “look, I know it’s annoying I spilled the water on the floor but it’s not like I’m Wang Leehom” and honestly that worked.
@Space_Lenin
@chloetankahhui
To be left alone by China and achieve social justice in Taiwan on their own means. Especially justice for victims of colonization and uplifting indigenous communities.
Hoping the election goes our way. But no matter what, it was an honor to live in Taiwan the last six years with the best leader I’ve ever had in my life. #辣台妹
It’s weird to me how it’s legal and accepted for rich Taiwanese people to go to America for three months when they give birth so they can finesse US citizenship for their kids. But it’s not okay for poor people from Central America to risk everything to do the same. Okay.
The most horrible feeling in the world is seeing Moscow, Idaho turn into some online True Crime spectacle for people to act like they know anything about. It’s an immense amount of pain and it makes me so angry. I hope Ashley Guillard loses so bad that she’s homeless for life.
My 9th grade students had an assignment to make a video game or movie. Two boys made an ironic game called “Asian Simulator” where the goal is to become a doctor or lawyer. It has a mental health bar and easy mode has supportive parents. Hard mode has emotional damage. Wow.
@qiaocollective
I missed the part where Tom Hanks posted a heartfelt message on social media about his experience of being sexually assaulted by a powerful member of government.
But thank you for this masterclass in false equivalence. Truly spectacular.
As a UW fan, I’m happy w the DeBoer hire. It’s solid. He’s gonna win. I’m just not blown away.
As an Idaho alum, I want to strip naked and run across the Kibbie Dome field, double fisting Rainiers and screaming the fight song w/ the Jason Eck hire.
Idaho nailed it way more.
Taiwan Presidential Party candidates power rankings
4. The “doctor” who brings nothing to the table but a cult of personality. Sounds familiar!
3. The guy who made his fortune exploiting poor factory workers
2. The former martial law era cop representing the colonizer party
@Truth2Upeople
Imagine being this racist about a set of people that actually includes dozens of distinct cultures and this amazingly incorrect about their relation to Chinese culture. This is impressive. Holy hell.
@AndrewMMacLeod
I love you “academic” types who spend like two days researching Taiwan and then come up with these takes based entirely on technicalities which ignore completely every single bit of historical nuance and actual human reality.
@AndyBxxx
@melissakchan
@suilee
@amyyqin
You, a white man: “Asian hate needs to stop by me telling literal Asian people how to speak about issues that directly affect them.”
Good lord.
Thank you
@DangeRussWilson
. You literally changed the lives of millions of people in the Pacific Northwest for the better. I will never forget where I was when you delivered us a Lombardi Trophy. We love you so much. Thank you for everything. Thank you so much.
My wife and I are trying to have a baby and are hoping for good news in the next few weeks or months.
I’m really excited for all three of us to embark on this adventure. Myself, my wife, and my wife’s fortune teller.
I need to keep reminding myself it’s not my place to have a take.
Taiwan is where I will settle for the rest of my life. I don’t know what the future holds. I’m not going to run away back to America no matter what. I hope I can raise my family in times of peace. That’s all.
This shit is so enraging. 181,000 losers with no fucking life. How sad must you be with your own loser life to have to discuss a community you have nothing to do with every day.
@shen_shiwei
@StateDeptSpox
We recognize PRC sovereignty over China. That is our One-China policy. It has nothing to do with the status of Taiwan, which to the US is officially undetermined while “acknowledging” but not putting in to practice PRC’s stance on Taiwan.
Hope that helps. I know reading is hard
If there’s anything I hate so passionately about Taiwanese educational culture, is that kids are terrified of being wrong. They think not trying at all is better than making mistakes. My top goal this year will be creating a culture of learning from mistakes. It’s ok to be wrong.
I’m really terrified the way people are going to falsely label Taiwan’s government the way people are bizarrely painting Ukraine’s to be an entire government of Nazis.
Probably by ignorantly equating Taiwan’s government today to that of Chiang Kai Shek’s government.
It’s funny that she’s a person who literally grew up in Taiwan and works in the literal government, but all the negative responses are from people who have never been here before mansplaining her own life to her.
With help from Chinese diplomats, Europeans are getting a better understanding of the Taiwan-China issue. Thanks Chinese diplomacy. Ukraine exists, Taiwan exists, you cannot simply ignore this fact. It isn’t just “great powers” that have the right to exist.
@GarlandNixon
@chen_yenhan
“You deserve it”
The fact you people actively want China to be able to subjugate these people, it’s so funny you think you’re advocating for good when really you’re advocating for evil.
While Lai Ching-te will become President, the DPP needs to note more people voted for not Lai than Lai. He will likely have a contested legislature. We need to focus on housing, wages, jobs, and why Ko got 15 percent of Taiwan’s population to vote for him.
@ReaperII7
@vicious696
Where is the guilt? I didn’t do shit, I don’t have to be guilty about anything. I’m just not going to cry about PoC wanting their own space *sometimes*
@PhoenixMercury
Everyone saying “oh well she broke the law” sure would be acting differently if this were a nice, comfortable white woman like Sue Bird. It’s really obvious.
@Chen_YenHan
@notXiangyu
It’s weird how much these leftists seem to align with the social values of MAGAs with the way they loosely throw around offensive terms. Maybe they have more in common.
I expect to see this same pack-the-pub energy for the World Baseball Classic that people in Taiwan had for the World Cup. Your country is hosting this damn thing. Let’s get out tomorrow night and show support, wherever you are in Taiwan.
Why are Taipei people so sad about cold and rain? Can we please cherish the moments when your underwear doesn’t become sweat-soaked two minutes after leaving your apartment?
Taiwan has had arguably the most successful Covid response on the planet, and this is both without much outside help, and a major global economy hampering our efforts to get vaccines.
Any attempt to disparage our President for what she accomplished is laughable.
