Methamphetamine and amphetamine salts are related but not the same
An extra methane group can change things significantly
Similar situation to morphine and heroin, only in this case the methylated version is the safer one

Every type of mixture of every drug has extremely different effects. Just because one compound is categorized one way doesn’t mean very much about how dangerous it is. Like how hydrogen peroxide is deadly but water is completely safe, even though it’s an atom difference.

you have never taken an advanced chemistry course or you didn’t pay attention. An added methyl group (-CH3) makes it more potent and longer-lasting. It also makes methamphetamine more lipophilic (able to dissolve in fat) than amphetamine, making it stronger. Not the same.
