Crazy idea: Maybe instead of nuking 2/3 of the statewide elected officials in Virginia, we should make some allowance for stupid mistakes and for the fact that people grow up and change

@RichLowry I suggest the First Step Act 2.0 for Virginia politicians.

@RichLowry Or if we nuke the officials in Virginia out of office, we make clear that it's because they're being held to their own hypocritical standard, not because what they did is actually so unforgivable.

@RichLowry @benshapiro Like the pass given to Brett Cavanagh? Oh thatโ€™s right heโ€™s too conservative to not have his life upended by a yearbook.

@RichLowry Nope. Bring 'em to their knees using their own rules. It's the only way we'll ever have constructive change.

@RichLowry In a perfect world, youโ€™re right. However Iโ€™ve no doubt that, under similar circumstances, the Dems would have zero compunction about going for the jugular. Weโ€™re in a battle to save our constitutional republic. Not the time to take the high road.

@RichLowry Isn't it a shame that the Democrats changed the rules. We're just making them play by them.
