If you’re that person who gives someone else a nasty attitude/aura when you see them cosplaying the same person as you at a convention, don’t go to conventions. The character wasn’t made for you alone. You’re not the official character. You’re not special. Cosplay is for everyone
Can’t tell you how many catty girls I had to deal with when I cosplayed Allura. And majority came from girls who weren’t even black lol. I used to be so excited seeing someone else love the character as much as I did to go through the trouble of making a whole cosplay! Like???
And this ESPECIALLY goes out to the “influencers” who walk around the con like they’re high and mighty because of a follower count. NEWS FLASH, no one gives a fuck and you’re at the convention doing the same geek shit as everyone else. Y’all need to get a grip. 😂
Period. And since everyone is seeing and relating to this tweet, let’s make cussing out these cosplayers a new norm in convention spaces, because if y’all still do this in 2022, you’re asking for it. 💁🏾♀️

It’s actually the worst feeling ever when you try to say hi or just wave to a person cosplaying the same character as you and they give a nasty look or flat-out ignore you. 🥲
@rashiacasey
I’ll NEVER forget being at the cosplay formal at AnimeNEXT, seeing a voltron group, going over to dance with them all hype like “ayyye!!” And ALL OF THEM moving away from me with the nastiest looks. Fuck all of them, honestly.
@RheaMorris_
A few years back I cosplayed Harley Quinn for Halloween, I was already pretty chubby and made my own costume cause I didn't have the money to buy it, this skinny younger girl in an 'official' full harley cosplay laughed and pointed at me, still affects me when i want to cosplay
@Avalon_Schilt
And it’s fucking stupid because she’s not the “official” Harley herself! She’s not in the movies, she’s a geek dressing up the same way you are. It’s pathetic that people think they’re better than anyone at these events when we’re all there doing the same thing! Keep cosplaying!

@crowaionz
I will never forget when someone asked me to not cosplay a character she did because I would "get more attention from people" 🙃🙃🙃
@RheaMorris_
I don’t cosplay but I have been in convos where people use other cosplayers as a comparison to downplay or invalidate their work, like so and so already did this one or that’s John doe’s cosplay.
Like, who tf are you?? Respect their work and efforts!!
@LiterallyTony
EXACTLY! And who cares if they did it? Have I done it yet? No? Then stfu! 😂😂😂
They make it seem like only one person is allowed to cosplay specific characters and once they’ve done it, that’s it. 💁🏾♀️😂
@RheaMorris_
I get excited when I see someone else cosplaying the same character as me! Cause yay someone else who appreciates this character! I get a picture with them if they agree to it.
@RheaMorris_
Bruh, I be excited af when someone else is cosplaying the same character, ESPECIALLY the underrated ones. Like excuse me, can we get a pic together?! That other energy cosplayers have when this happens, is weird af.
