If someone wants to go that far in order to portray the character, there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s not disrespectful or harmful unless they are advocating that you CAN’T cosplay a character without matching their skin tone, which would be ridiculous.

There IS something wrong with someone going that far and painting themselves brown to match a character. I don’t, however, agree with restricting characters. Just don’t paint yourself brown. Period.

Why can people just not. If your character is darker then you do not darken your skin. If your character is rainbow hues or truly pitch black okay be that wild color. Examples are cosplaying a Nobody. Any other please share.

I believe cosplay your favorite character without changing your skin. You can still be who you are while paying homage to the character.
