No citizen should be paying taxes so a corporation can be given millions of dollars in 'incentives' to locate a portion or all of their business in a specific location.  This article in the IndyStar, Stellantis $3.2B battery plant coming to Kokomo, will bring 1,400 jobs…

@RainwaterForIN Yeah they built that giant gas pipeline for the damn plant why not build the plant near the gas. But we also know in the end the plant is going to be a big dud unless electric batteries drastically change in the next year or two. Stellantis doesn’t care either way they got paid.

@RainwaterForIN I support $176.5 million in tax credits that come with $176.5 million in spending cuts.

@RainwaterForIN Two observations: 1. Incentives are letting them keep their own money, not a handout. 2. property taxes are ongoing theft akin to the feudal system. When do you ever truly own your own property? Never under this system.

@RainwaterForIN Plainfield did this a decade ago with their warehouse properties to bring business in. Now the tax incentives have expired they are getting a massive income of tax revenue and putting it right back into the town.

@RainwaterForIN Politicians love to tell small businesses that we are the "backbone" of the economy, etc. Yet there are very incentives or breaks for a small business if any, ever.

@RainwaterForIN Absolutely agree with you here. I know people like to say that Stellantis is one of the big three, but it’s not an American car company so it’s hard to call it. One of the Detroit three. I know they own the Chrysler brand but Chrysler is long gone.

@RainwaterForIN Agreed. Doubly so since the product they will be manufacturing is not wanted or viable. EV is at least 25 years in the future (and likely not then, either.)

@RainwaterForIN This is small & backwards thinking. You don't live an economically depressed area & struggle to keep food on the table. 1,400 jobs is everything. If every Hoosier gives a mere $5 tax dollars (which is $35M) towards the incentive, that's a lot of moms and dads working.

@RainwaterForIN @RobMKendall "They tell you how many jobs will be created... but none of that actually puts food on your table, pays your mortgage, or puts gasoline in your vehicle." A job is exactly what puts food on the table, pays the mortgage & puts gas in my SUV.
