5th of april - got a letter from the DWP saying my PIP review had started and to expect a letter in 2 weeks.
20th April - hadnt come so I spent 45 minutes on hold and got cut off.
It finally arrived 25th April, deadline was 4th May. I sent it 30th.
Just had a letter today aโฆ
With postage time they gave me 5 days tops to fill in a 40 page form where I had to divulge traumatic information. It took them 4 weeks to tell me I'd missed the deadline.
Just spoke to a case manager who was actually really helpful. Theyโre having to do a mandatory reconsideration.
It took them 3 weeks to receive it from me sending it back. It took me 3 weeks to get it in the first place.
The Dwp is fucking crumbling after 14 years of a revolving door of ministers and cuts. They canโt handle the same admin theyโve always done never mind all the new shit theyโre proposing.
@RachelCDailey
Not PIP but recently was told I missed a deadline with them because they didn't get around to opening the letter in time. They said when it was sent (over a week before) was irrelevant.
@creativelies
โHave you got any proof?โ โWell no it was free post, I sent it in your envelope you gave meโ โoh, yeahโ is the actual conversation I had
@RachelCDailey
Sounds like family court lol! Social workers respond to victim of PPDA AFTER deadlines so no time to digest and reply to court by deadline. Court ignore this. We are all set up to fail by a corrupt system and despicable management in it that enable this.

In light of what is happening with our post, only see my postie about twice a week now. They are going to have to sort something out for this. 5 days to complete a PIP application is not long enough, ffs I needed an extension last time of the four weeks. If you are waiting onโฆ

Yep, they always give far too short a time scale on their letters - and only send them out to us 2nd class, meaning you never have quite enough time. Theyโve always been happy to extend it when Iโve called - but itโs like its a deliberate plan, like only those who go through theโฆ
@RachelCDailey
They told my mum they had written to her doctors then downgraded her claim, I'm like how do she calls the doctors "I can assure you that no one from the DWP or pip even called ot Irequested your medical records"
It's disgusting she's not got that long left to live.
@RachelCDailey
They did this exact thing to me at the end of last year. I ended up proving I had delivered it in time, the delay was their fault, and they were wrong. The irony? I am now one of the people whose review has been postponed because of the backlog.
I hope you get yours sorted <3
@RachelCDailey
The exact same thing happened to me! They then said they had lost my forms so I wrote them all out again (luckily I took photos of everything first) only for them to ring only to let me know they had found the original forms! Gahhhh
@RachelCDailey
I know privatisation has done a lot of damage to our postal system but I never understood how a government organisation seems to have such a knack for taking 2 weeks to get their mail out to people especially forms which have a return deadline. Hope you get it resolved ok.
