How are people really okay with 1 out of every 100 people they know dying?

@RachelAlter007 Completley FAKE stat, and of course unsourced at that. This is sadly what our colleges are turning out, folks.

@RachelAlter007 Imagine boarding a flight of 200 people and being told when you land only 198 would still be alive. You just wouldn’t get on the plane.

@RachelAlter007 They don’t think it will ever affect them.

@RachelAlter007 My family and I have stayed hunkered since last February. Gone nowhere, seen nobody. I've only shopped for groceries in the middle of the night, if not curbside pickup. We want to not only protect ourselves, but protect healthcare workers and everyone else.

@RachelAlter007 Because they are sure it won't happen to anyone they actually care about, such as themselves.

@RachelAlter007 @MarchForScience And that’s just averaged out among everyone, and assuming you get the best care immediately. It’s a lot worse if you’re at risk or don’t have proper access to the care needed.

@RachelAlter007 They don’t think people are dying. The latest popular theory among virus truthers is that deaths this year are the same as 2019 and the covid deaths are just reclassified other deaths. Fine, except for the FACT that deaths are running ~400k higher than last year.

@RachelAlter007 @MarchForScience Because they selfishly assume that it won’t be anyone THEY know dying.

@RachelAlter007 @MarchForScience They have no empathy for others, especially people they do not know. The vitus is disproportionately affecting POC service workers and the poor. These are people that are not part of their circle. They can work remotely and have not list their jobs.

@RachelAlter007 Denial. If you don't believe it's a real problem you don't have to grapple with the terrifying reality of it. :/

@RachelAlter007 This seems to be hard for people to comprehend. Maybe it's a defense mechanism so they don't feel guilty or have anxiety, but we need to somehow make the masses understand.

@RachelAlter007 A lack of understanding of how statistics work. They see "1 in a 100" but then don't know anyone who died.

@RachelAlter007 @Feisty_Waters I'm not okay with people dying from something that could be easily prevented or at least better managed.

@RachelAlter007 Can you show your work please? At least in canada, 1/100 is not the case. We barely have 1/100 ppl even getting covid here (as of last week).
