@RNSuperHero Unless you’re federal. Then it’s 40 hrs a week so 36 hrs one week and 48 hrs the next week. Did that for yrs.

@RNSuperHero Absolutely the best part of being a nurse. When I started it was five 8 hour shifts. Had no life whatsoever.

@RNSuperHero Amen! My ex husband asked me why I don't work more than 3 days a week. One of the reasons he's my ex! 🤬

@carccbiggsc My adopted dad is like this. I love him but he constantly makes comments that I only work “part time” because it’s not 40+ hours.

@RNSuperHero Not really criticizing, but, many of us work 40 hours+ a week in healthcare. As our regular schedule.

@RNSuperHero Our full time here is 6 12s and an 8 in two weeks. Most of us are “hell nah!” on that. I’m a .75 which is 5 12s in seven days and then a week off and it’s glorious. Room for pickups or the occasional extra 4 at double time. Kids hockey has to be paid for somehow.

@RNSuperHero And I regularly work 4 and 5 in a row bc I have a weird schedule bc my hospital considers our week to be Wednesday-Tuesday with no weekends. Craziness! Add in the commute. Folks don't understand how exhausting healthcare work truly is for us.

@RNSuperHero I only did it for 3 yrs & I can tell you. Ur either resting from a shift or resting for a shift. Doing 3 in a row is hard. U have to be at a hospital for yrs before u get a sweet schedule giving you a full week off. Oh, & every four wks u have to work an extra shift. Hell week.

@RNSuperHero The 4th day is recovering from those 3 days, esp if you work in a row.

@RNSuperHero none of the people i know who work 8-5 desk jobs would survive a single shift in a hospital... i've worked both and bedside nursing is way more physically and mentally taxing than any other job i've had. it's the same 40 hrs a week.

@RNSuperHero I love my three 12s. I would not trade it for anything. Even having to do a fourth every 4 weeks is not a deterrent. I self-schedule and travel without taking vacation time. How do you survive 5 days a week/hardly any time off? I could not.

@RNSuperHero Yep. You're there for 37.5 hours, and you don't get the 2 15-minute breaks you're supposed to have, so you're working at least full time. You don't have time for personal calls, dentist appointments, or anything else during your day. While you're there, it's 150% all the time.

@RNSuperHero I support you, and this, and agree. I do wish that 3 12s were full time as a pediatrician, though.

@RNSuperHero O M GGGGGGGGG I was just on this rant! I work 12 hour shifts (more like 14) Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. When I tell people that they say oh wow so what do you do during the week? Do you have another job? I’m like no mf I work 40 hours in 3 days.

@RNSuperHero And if it’s nights one of your days off is spent sleeping for at least some of it. Also add in no breaks or lunch and yep-it’s full time.

@RNSuperHero Honestly I come close to 40 with my 3 "12s" I clock in around 630am and out anytime between 1915-1945 pretty routinely 😅💁‍♀️ and I know I'm not alone in this!

@RNSuperHero I worked 3 12-hr shifts Saturday, Sunday (WOW) and one weekday. An RN didn’t understand why I didn’t have another job. I pointed out she also worked 3 12s and didn’t have another job but she said it was different because I worked weekends. Eyeroll.
