A friends hospital was offering incentive pay to get them to pick up tonight. Friend picked up for the mentioned incentive. Once at work they told the nurses who picked up they’d be canceling incentive pay at 2300. Friend said ok then I leave at 2300.

@RNSuperHero Exactly, it’s not abandonment so long as the baton is passed so to speak & we call that reporting off.

@RNSuperHero @SourdoughSusie If anyone is abandoning the patients it's the administration because they treat nurses so badly that they can't get enough staffing. Treat your staff well and pay them what they are worth and you won't have a staffing problem and patients in turn will get the care they deserve.

@RNSuperHero @SourdoughSusie It’s the same thing regarding strikes. They use “patient abandonment” to justify using scabs when they are well aware ahead of time and if they don’t want the strike to happen can agree to the demands

@RNSuperHero It seems as relations become more & more toxic between admin& nursing these agreements need to be in writing. Verbal agreements, as they say, aren’t worth the paper they’re written on. Time to seriously consider organizing into a union.

@RNSuperHero @SourdoughSusie ADMIN changed the terms once your friend got there ADMIN is fully aware of what they did ADMIN was given I’m assuming 5-8 hour notice (not sure when your friend arrived) That gave ADMIN plenty of time to 1) change terms back to original 2) ample time find coverage FAFO admin
