@ProfFeynman If you can explain it to a kid, you've almost got it. Good luck answering their follow up questions.

@ProfFeynman My students don't believe me when I tell them this until they take their first exam with me. Among other tactics, it's amazing what adding "D) All of the above, and E) None of the above" to every multi-choice item will do - and before you comment, I use multi-method exams.

@ProfFeynman But memory is the root of all learning and problem sopving is it not? If you can’t remember a thing, how will you ever learn?

@ProfFeynman Memorization is not learning - true - but it has its place, and it is important.

@ProfFeynman Memorization... *improves information recall *aids in pattern recognition *frees up brain power for critical thinking *improves focus *allows for more creativity because working memory is freed up *increases capacity to learn more complicated concepts

@ProfFeynman Memorization is good for remembering things, but just because you remember something does not mean you learned anything.

@ProfFeynman I would suggest that memorization is learning, but that sometimes we learn the wrong things, concepts or procedures. Now memorization is not reading…but you have to memorize the graphemes-phonemes correspondences (gradually)before you can become a proficient reader.

@ProfFeynman Knowledge can be acquired through memorization, but skills require practice. Both are forms of learning, but the methods are different.

@ProfFeynman If you can’t use learning to execute , it’s no value . Memorisation is now cut copy paste so no value at all.
