First time together with
@MrTeller
in over 6 months. I’m now in his bubble and we will work for a couple weeks on all the new bits we wrote for the new Fool Us. Wow it feels good to work together in person
Well, it was 47 years ago today that Teller and I did our first shows together at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. They were two solo shows, but they were at the same place.
@MrTeller
Fuck! Saget would have wanted something tweeted that was really funny and in very bad taste. I can’t do that. I’m just so sad. Bob was just great on every level and we will all miss him.
#BobSaget
Gilbert — the funniest person of our lifetime is gone. It was an honor to have been near that level of genius. So goddamn fucking funny. Completely original. Goodbye you fucking genius. Goodbye to my friend.
Thanks to everyone with kind birthday wishes. We were coincidently working on a new trick for Fool Us that is a birthday theme so Teller and the guys made it about me. Thanks to everyone!
Every year on this date, Gilbert sent out the same tweet. Let’s pass it around.
"Dear Hitler happy birthday you’re dead and the Jews run the world haha”
We are all mourning the loss of
#RoyHorn
of
#SiegfriedandRoy
. S&R invented, created, pioneered the very idea that a magic show could be a full evening in Vegas. If not for S&R there would be no P&T in Vegas. He was so full of life, wild, and unpredictable. We will miss him.
Another picture from the last day I spent with Randi. I talked to him a couple times after this. My inspiration, my hero, my mentor, my friend. I will talk to him the rest of my life and my memory of him will answer. I didn’t absorb enough wisdom, but I absorbed a lot.
I'm here at the hospital. The doc just came in and the operation could not have gone better! Perfect! No problems! Now,
@MrTeller
just has to recover and take it easy and we'll be back and bad August 18th! Whew!
Thank you to everyone who sent so much love for my friend, Randi. There was one thing he was never skeptical about and that was love. He loved so much and knew he was loved. Thank you. Let's keep that going.
It was 19 years ago today the Penn & Teller show started our run at the Rio. Yup, we’re the longest running headliners in Vegas history. Goddamn. And we sill love it. Teller hits the stage with me again on February 1!
45 years ago today that Teller and I first did a show together at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. 45 years! Without the pandemic there would be a shindig. But this is where we are, all trying to stay safe. Wow. 45 years. Wow. Wow. And we’re still writing and working together.
Our run at the Rio is old enough to vote. We have been running in the Penn & Teller Theater full time for 18 years! (We did a few months here and there before that). We love it. Thank you all.
It’s 18 years ago today that Penn & Teller started full time at the Rio. And I guess we’re still at the Rio as soon as it opens up. I guess we haven’t lost our streak, but it we have, that’s not the biggest problem in the world today. 18 years. Man.
Well that’s that.
@MrTeller
and I did our rehearsal time in our rehearsal house and now we move to the Rio to put these brand new Fool Us closer bits on wax!
He punched me, and pretty hard, maybe not kidding, for being libertarian. We did some charity stuff together. I loved him, was proud to know him and will miss him.
Criss Angel was selling a lot of stuff from his show, so Teller & I bought a zillion of his souvenir glasses with his eyes on them. We’ll give them away backstage at our P&T show as souvenirs. Now you have a reason to want to meet us backstage!
Mi mejor amigo,
@Jandro
, surprised me. Really surprised me by bringing the greatest magician alive, and certainly one of the greatest people ever, to meet us for supper. He caught a shot of my face when I saw him. JUAN TAMARIZ! Madre Mia. What a trip.
Out of concern and love for our audiences, & well, concern and love for everyone — we will be canceling our shows starting tonight for the next few weeks Hope to be back on stage soon when gathering is once again responsible. Let’s all take care of ourselves & each other. Love
It was 20 years ago today that I started playing upright jazz bass. I’m not good, but I’m better than I ever thought I’d be. Even during the pandemic I’m practicing almost every day. Plugging along.
It was 26 years ago today that we did the Bullet Catch “Magic Bullet” for the very first time. It was so scary. 26 years. Time is a jet plane, it moves too fast.
It was 21 years ago tonight that we opened at the Rio. Yup, a lot has changed, but we’re still here in the Penn & Teller theater. Man, what a great run. And what a weird time.
My first big artistic hero, Mike Nesmith. He’s a big part of who I am. It’s love you bring, no that I can’t deny. With your wings, you helped me learn to fly. Sweet Young Mike Nesmith.
This afternoon I got, not damaging, but still startling, sprinkles of liquid nitrogen through my gym shorts on my balls and dick. That can only mean one thing — we are about to shoot another season of Penn & Teller: Fool Us
Man,
@BobSaget
. I’ve been texting back and forth with people, kind, beautiful and hysterical stories about Bob. He was so great in every way. He always cheered me up.
It’s starting.
@MrTeller
and I together in lockdown at the closed Rio. We won’t come out of the bubble until we have a full season of 14 new shows!
My Leaf was wonderful for 5 years, but I got wicked sick of planning around what ended up being less than 60 miles a charge. So, I just went out and bought a Tesla Model X. Goes farther.
It was 20 years ago tonight that
@MrTeller
and I opened at the Rio to start the longest running headliners in Vegas history (we didn’t know it at the time, just trying to get through the night. I can’t wait to be on stage again.
Such a sad day. We’ve lost
#FredWillard
and he will be missed. He was in our “Aristocrats” and killed. He’ll always be “Fernwood Tonight” to me, inventing modern comedy with
#MartinMull
. Fred never winked, he played the comedy pure. Genius. Perfect.
Fifteen years ago, with my best buddy,
@Lawrence
on the set of
@WestWingTV
@WestWingWeekly
I’m very proud of our flag burning magic trick on that show and it was such a fun set full of wicked smart people. What ever happened to that Lawrence O’Donnell guy?
Oh my goodness, we're seeing wonderful magicians as we record our new season of Fool Us, but Phyllis, who does our make-up, is working extra hard making us look okay after we take turns crying after losing Randi.
Well, I played bebop upright jazz bass at the Green Mill. I don’t remember ever being more nervous. I did only one song instead of two. I was shaking. I almost threw up. I couldn’t feel my hands. But . . . I did it and people were kind.
Both Siegfried & Roy are now gone. S&R invented the full length magic show headlining Vegas. A very different style but without S&R there is no P&T in Vegas. Pure showbiz and pure class. He was a team. We are a team. As Tolstoy wrote -Successful magic teams are all the same
It's day 0 of my weird atheist skeptic medical vision quest. I'm going to start a water-only fast tomorrow. I'm also going to fast from all social media and news. I need time to think. Things will still be retweeted and get to me, but after today I'll be gone until August.
Happy thanksgiving y’all. This will be my first one that’s cruelty free. Not just vegan for health anymore. (this is not a holiday of healthful eating anyways)
