Diontae Johnson in 2021:
⚫️ 166 targets
🟡 107 receptions
⚫️ 6 dropped passes
His 3.6% drop rate was better than that of:
• Cooper Kupp
• Justin Jefferson
• Tyreek Hill
• Keenan Allen
• Mike Evans
+ many more
But the narratives…
@PFF_Steelers
Except that he didn't have 6 drops. Drops are not an official stat and thus open to subjectivity. He sure as hell had more passes hit both hands that he did not catch. This, unlike your "stat", is verifiable, empirical data.
@PFF_Steelers
Here's the only narrative that's needed: It's precisely "when" those six drops occurred that has made this issue a pressing concern with Mr. Johnson. And it really has nothing to do with anyone else's drops. And putting Kupp in your veiled tweet is utter ridiculousness.
@PFF_Steelers
It just feels like more drops than it actually was because they all came towards the end of the season then he had 2 more in the wildcard game. He is a great receiver though
@PFF_Steelers
What about the drops during the playoff game against KC?? He dropped a slant where’d he’d still be running right now if he caught it. Diontae has a lot of upside but he’s still got some improving to do
