Frankly speaking, the reasons given by the CBN is sensible.
That is, the departments being relocated are essentially Lagos based in functions. So it’s a cost saving and logistical necessity.
To my mind, the uproar from Northerners and others, stems from a place of deep seated…

I’ve always thought it absurd that CBN is headquartered in the FCT when all the banks they regulate, save for Unity Bank, have their headquarters in Lagos. This hysteria over moving 5 of the 17 departments of CBN to Lagos is unfounded and ludicrous.

Will it be wise to say NNPC & all Oil Companies headquarters should be relocated to SS, since all major operations & logistics are done there.
No insults pls.

The part you miss, is that THIS IS NOT A RELOCATION OF THE CBN HQ TO LAGOS!
It concerns only some departments (about 5 of them) whose primary work scope is necessarily in Lagos.
How is this not clear to see?
Please nau.

Not just a deep seated distrust, also a deep sense of ownership. All the tweets defending their uproar don't have any substance to their argument. It's just feelings, planted feelings.

Out of 17 CBN departments, only 5 are moving to Lagos where their function primarily is, now there's an uproar because of that! Why? I don't understand? In advanced countries things like this move from one place to another as needed without issues. Is our nation truly one?
