53 years ago today, my father was taken from this world. 💔
I was only 10 years old when my father was killed, but at the time of his funeral, I fully realized the impact and importance of what my father was trying to do. Create a world of freedom, justice & equality for all. ❤️
My father said, “A riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it America has failed to hear? ...It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met."
Chadwick Boseman brought history to life on the silver screen, from Jackie Robinson, James Brown and Thurgood Marshall.
As Black Panther, he was also a superhero to many.
And despite his 4 year long battle with cancer, he kept fighting and he kept inspiring. He will be missed.
After dad was assassinated, Harry Belafonte joined me, mom, and my siblings in Memphis. He was one of the only people to make sure that mom and her children were taken care of in the months, days, and years after the assassination. He was there for us even when others had gone.

I do not want to see photo ops of elected officials if they are not willing to put voting rights over the filibuster.

John Lewis was an American treasure.
He gave a voice to the voiceless, and he reminded each of us that the most powerful nonviolent tool is the vote.
Our hearts feel empty without our friend, but we find comfort knowing that he is free at last.
While I don’t condone violence, this has ignited a flame that has been brewing for generation. What we need is to heal the sores of racism that have been festering and eating away at the soul of America.
A Wisconsin police officer yesterday shot Jacob Blake 7 times in the back. His 3 children were in the car, watching their father being shot.
This is America.
On August 28th, we will be marching against police brutality in Washington, DC, demanding justice.
Too often elected officials tweet and quote my Dad while standing in the way of progress on voting rights.

The peaceful protests in the summer were met with armed military police, tear gas, and rubber bullets.
Today’s insurrection in the Capitol shows a clear example of the two very different justice systems our country upholds.
No justice, no peace. No justice, no peace. No justice, no peace. No justice, no peace. No justice, no peace. No justice, no peace. No justice, no peace. No justice, no peace. No justice, no peace. No justice, no peace. No justice, no peace. No justice, no peace.

Despite the way Trump attempted to characterize my father this evening, here’s what my father, Martin Luther King Jr., really said:
”The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.”

Dad, I will always remember the joy you brought to our home and community. I remember your unwavering dedication to peace, justice & equity. I know that we will one day realize your dream because the arc of the moral universe is long but bends toward justice. Happy birthday, Dad.
I am deeply disturbed by the video released by Memphis Police today. We all witnessed a horrific yet perversely familiar act committed by officers of the law. Everyone involved must be arrested & charged with the murder of Tyre Nichols. His family and our nation deserve justice.
In 1969, Mister Rogers invited a black officer to join him in a pool, during a time when racial tensions were high, and pools still segregated. He displayed on television, to his huge audience of children (the next generation), that diversity is good. Thank you,

I remember my father for the ideals that he held, and I know that if he were here today, he would be proud of our progress, but deeply disappointed by some of our failures. That is why we must continue to fight for peace, justice, and equity. Happy birthday, dad.
My father preached the power of nonviolent action to promote change. It’s devastating to see the violent actions taken by the police during yesterday's protests in

I am deeply saddened to share that my brother, Dexter Scott King, has passed away. The sudden shock is devastating. It is hard to have the right words at a moment like this. Please keep the entire King family in your prayers, and in particular Dexter's wife, Leah Weber King.

I would never condone violence. Ever. But I certainly understand where it comes from. A building can be restored, a human life cannot.
As my father explained during his lifetime, riots are the language of the unheard.
Until our freedom to vote is secured, we won’t see progress on the issues that matter most to us — abortion access, gun violence prevention, economic equality, racial justice, climate change. President Biden and Congress: do what’s right and pass voting rights legislation NOW.
Policemen should serve and protect, not kill. I join with Americans across the country in support of a thorough investigation into what feels like another murder of an African American man by a white police officer. The goal should always be to apprehend a suspect, not to kill.
Sixty years ago, today, Ruby Bridges had her first day of kindergarten at an all-white school. Her courage helped to shape the future for all children. Thank you, Ruby, for your bravery.
In a world where we are fighting against the grip of fascism, I applaud the people of Brazil for voting for democracy, environmental justice, and workers' rights.

Malcolm X was not the political opposite of my father that many believed him to be. They stood on the same side of history—against the dehumanization of Black Americans.
Today, he would have been 99 years old. Rest in peace and power.
Today, justice was served for the Floyd family, but we still live in a nation clothed in injustice. True justice for Black Americans can only come through a complete revolution of values. We need an overhaul of systems deeply rooted in racism.

, once again. The fight to end hate is a global fight. Together, we can create a better world that accepts and uplifts all people regardless of sexuality, gender, race, sex and disability. We are stronger as one.
Tonight, I stand with all those in America who dream of a world of peace and justice. A world where nobody is judged by the color of their skin, but, as dad said, by the content of their character.
That world is possible. We will get there, together.
Love to all.

Today, we honor the 190th anniversary of President Vicente Guerrero's death. He is one of the greatest revolutionary leaders in Mexican history. Guerrero was a leader of the people. A giant of Mexico's abolitionist movement, he abolished slavery more than 40 years before the US.
My father never got a chance to see me graduate, or give me advice on my wedding day. He wasn’t there to see his granddaughter born.
When I lost a father, the world gained a message. Today, more than ever, I know his words and work live in each of us.

100 days have gone by since Breonna Taylor was killed. 100. And still, no police officer has been charged for her murder. 0.
100 days, 0 charges. 100 days, and still no justice.
