Today, New Jersey’s fire service lost a tremendous ally and friend with the passing of Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver. Since 2018, we at NJDFS had the honor of working with her as DCA Commissioner.
Her strength, experience, and dedication to the people of NJ will never be forgotten.
Today the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety is mourning the loss of two brother firefighters from the City of Newark.
Our hearts go out to their families, friends, loved ones, and the Newark FD. We pray for those injured and wish all a speedy and complete recovery.
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of K9 Titan, Division of Fire Safety team. He was Captain Stephen Letts beloved partner & he truly made a positive impact upon the state’s fire service, law enforcement, and citizens. RIP faithful partner - 6/5/12 to 6/16/23.
Thank you to our
@njdepforestfire
firefighters for working tirelessly to contain this wildfire.
These brave men and women worked throughout the night and are continuing their work today to protect lives and our natural resources.

International Firefighters Day commemorates the sacrifices made by firefighters and raises awareness about the dangers they face. Thank you to all the fire service members throughout NJ and the nation who put themselves in harm’s way to protect others.
In this year's budget, we've proposed an additional $10 million to help regional and local fire departments purchase new safety equipment.
We're going to keep doing whatever we can to support our first responders.
This program is making a measurable difference in getting our firefighters the resources they need to do their jobs safely and effectively in emergency situations.
