The MCU truly ended with ENDGAME. Almost everything after has just felt like superfluous bonus content. GOTG VOL 3, SHANG CHI and NO WAY HOME are the only three films post ENDGAME that have actually gave some sort of genuine justification for continuing the MCU.
Continues to be crazy that they try and come up with all these reasons why Marvel films are having trouble now instead of “we had an arc that culminated in a huge crossover issue that landed with a splash and had no idea where to take it afterwards.” That’s as comics as it gets.
"Avengers: Endgame" directors say Marvel's recent struggles are not due to superhero fatigue but "a big generational divide about how you consume media."

Even GotGv3 was less continuing the MCU and more finishing GotG's story. The final "STAR LORD WILL RETURN" squeezed in at the last second made me audibly groan in theaters because, as far as I care, that was the perfect ending for that character!

I don't know Shang Chi's story but NWH really was an epilogue for the MCU and GotG 3 was just finishing out the trilogy and if Gamora hadn't stayed dead it would have had no need to connect to the MCU

I’ll note the lack of crossover characters. In the early phases, Fury or Stark were in almost *every* movie. Now, there’s cameos but there’s no backbone linking characters.

Black panther as well but tbh thats always felt like its own thing and ill probably see black panther 3 and not any other marvel movies

gotg vol 3 also was like a really good standalone film, that didnt require THAT much knowledge of the mcu. no way home was similar, as it was pretty loosely connected to the MCU

No Way Home was an Easter egg abomination and exactly why the new movies are struggling. They’re less concerned with telling stories and more concerned with nostalgia and call backs and introducing characters who will eventually get their own movies.
