Thanks bro. Let me use the spare time I have to explain the entire Emmanuel Dennis situation with the Super Eagles and why he decided to shun the chance to represent Nigeria at the 2021 AFCON....
Thread!
I am still confused about this Dennis case. We need a proper investigation. How did Ekong got his invitation & Dennis invitation came late? Is this not a case of Dennis not interested in playing (According to
@MrMowiz
report) & Watford took advantage of the situation?
Emmanuel Dennis first foray international football didn't cover him in glory. He disrespected then U23 coach Imama and even shunned a group picture on the day of their U23 AFCON qualifiers game Vs Libya. He was dropped to the bench for the game. Did make an impression as a sub.
He was called up to the Super Eagles for the friendly games against Ukraine and Brazil respectively he felt he should have played a more prominent role owing to his form & the fact that it's a friendly game. He had cameos in both games. His body language was off. Rohr noticed.
Then came the game against Sierra Leone which ended in a dramatic 4-4 draw after Super Eagles went 4 goals up. Dennis fresh from scoring against Real Madrid in the UCL for Brugge was about to be subbed on. Balogun got injured and he was snubbed. He confronted Rohr after the game
Away to Sierra Leone he was introduced as a sub. He didn't seem like he wanted to be there. His body language was off. Ignored instructions from the bench. Walked past the technical crew at FT. Shunned post match gathering. At that point Rohr has had enough of him. Mind made up
Coupled with the fact that he was having troubles at club levels largely disciplinary issue. Worst at Cologne. Rohr blanked him. He got a shock move to Watford & boom he caught 🔥. However Rohr has already made up his mind that even if he scores 1m goal. No way back for him
So when Rohr drew up his 37 man preliminary list for the AFCON. He didn't include Emmanuel Dennis. NFF included Dennis, Semi Ajayi and Austin Amutu expanding the list to 40. Prior to that time top buffs at the NFF begged Rohr to forgive Dennis, he refused. Then came his sack.
With Rohr sacked as coach, same powers that included Dennis in the list told interim coach Eguavoen to give him a chance. I reported that Dennis won't honour a call up to be a part of the AFCON team. His team forced him to deny hence his statement that he will be at the AFCON
That statement means nothing to Dennis as his mind is made up. He wants to stay at Watford. In the form of his life in a big league going to AFCON might derail him. Then the issue of his invitation. I repeat it wasn't late, it was the pre tournament notification that wasn't sent
The pre tournament notification wasn't sent because he was not officially in the list submitted by Rohr. Main invitation arrived on time. Dennis, Watford, Eguavoen had a three hours conversation. It was down to Dennis to make a decision and he picked staying with Watford. EOD.
@MrMowiz
Well done for this.
I hope people note this thread for the future.
I am 100% certain that in the future we will revisit this when he is not called up again. I have zero time for folks who disrespect the Super Eagles.
@MrMowiz
interesting how you detailed all the things Dennis has done but in no way detailed how players he is better than has been playing ahead of him and why he is angry and sceptical about playing, you sure do know what goes on there lets hear Dennis own story. Is not one sided. EOD
