We have it in California, I havent heard of anyone being prosecuted for a storage law after reporting a gun stolen (though I haven't checked).
But that's a fair concern. The law should grant you immunity on storage claims if you report a stolen gun.

I mean, maybe. Dems are in full control, so the odds are in their favor in that regard. That doesn't mean there'd be any merit to changing their gun laws. Particularly when we don't even know…

Re: Your endorsement of requiring the reporting of lost and stolen guns.
Sounds good on paper but in practice is a bad policy. First off, states that have this law in ADDITION to a safe-storage requirement open you up to criminal liability in a catch-22 scenario. Options:

@avsterbone
Its not the same as those other crimes. If you lose a gun, I think you have a moral duty to report that. (Maybe less so if you lost it in the woods or something). Someone dangerous may now be armed.
@MorosKostas
This happens all the time in Connecticut. Here is a case where a gun owner (black, because gun laws are ALWAYS enforced more harshly against them) voluntarily reported their firearm lost or stolen and then subsequently had their Connecticut Pistol Permit revoked: 2:05:00…

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't gun storage laws ruled unconstitutional as a part of Heller? That was one of the main components of it.

Holy crap! I just realized a new Catch-22 the anti-gunners have created to persecute gun owners with:
1) a crime to not report stolen gun within 48 hours
2) a crime to have a gun stolen because of so-called "safe storage" laws!
