Today is #MaternalHealthAwarenessDay . Did you know that the U.S. has the highest maternal death rate of any high-income nation in the world? While the global maternal mortality ratio declined by 38% from 2000 to 2017, the U.S. maternal mortality rate continues to rise.

Meanwhile, 53% of the deaths occurred well after the moms left the hospital, between 7 days and a year after delivery. In other words: putting moms first is key to ending the maternal mortality crisis in the U.S.
