"Please pray for everybody. Please pray. My family is safe but many are not. I held one little girls head in my hand, she was seizing and she was bleeding out of her ears. I held her mother as she collapsed. Please pray," Montiho told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Waukesha's mayor and police chief are providing reporters a brief statement about the parade incident:
Mayor Shawn Reilly: "Tonight was a traumatic situation for the city of Waukesha. We don't have all the details. We can't provide details at this point."
More than 20 people were injured, police chief says. There is one person of interest. Did not say whether he/she was in custody.
Some victims had to be transported by family and friends.
"There are no other threats involved. The scene is now safe."
Waukesha School Board member Corey Montiho said his daughter's dance team was hit by the SUV.
"They were pom-poms and shoes and spilled hot chocolate everywhere. I had to go from one crumpled body to the other to find my daughter. My wife and two daughters were almost hit."
Waukesha Police Chief Dan Thompson said there were multiple fatalities but is not releasing more details at this time.
Thompson said a person is in custody and police have recovered the vehicle involved.
11 adults and 12 children were transported to six hospitals.
Members of the Milwaukee Dancing Grannies were affected by the crash, according to their Facebook page.
"... we are waiting for word on their conditions. Please keep the Grannies, all those injured, and all those who witnessed this horrible event in your thoughts and prayers."
