In *January*, Cyberpunk 2077’s CEO said that their employees would have to work “extra long hours” to finish the game for September & crunch was inevitable because they were in “the final stage”. Seven to ten months of crunch isn’t crunch anymore, it’s a death march.

I refused to stay silent when a co-worker made shitty transphobic comments in Slack. Got pulled in a 1-3 with my bosses & HR and one of them said "You are too empathetic" & started to talk about "hyper-empathy syndrome". 🙃 Lost all faith in this place afterward.

So today while grinding public events in Destiny 2, I somewhat ended up in one with like 650+ power level (I'm ~220) & it was only me & *one* other person. I kept dying almost non-stop & revived & felt BAD. We somehow heroic'd it. The other person then did the hug emote & 😭❤️.

I'd say there's even less accountability in indie spaces. Indies preying upon people in smaller spaces is, indeed, smaller than say like, BlizzCon but it's still *the exact same shit*. Many starry-eyes newcomers in the indie space are taken advantage of, it's excruciating.

Have a buddy system. Don't go to parties alone, or if you have to, share your location with friends so they can keep an eye on you, & do regular check-ins. I'll be sharing my location all week with three different people who know which hotel I'm at. You are never too careful.

Always have extra money to get an Uber or a taxi in case of an emergency. I have extra to get friends to their hotels - if you see me & need help to get you somewhere safe, please reach out. I have left events to get strangers back to their hotels before. I will do it again.
