In 1925, tiny Yacolt High School placed third at the state basketball tournament in an era when all schools played for one trophy. 4 years later, the high school closed. But for one winter, 8 boys brought joy to a small logging town through basketball.

@MegWochnick My dad was at Lincoln in 1937 when a similar tiny giant killer, Bellfountain, blew out LHS for Oregon's state championship. Almost 60 years later when he had Parkinson's related dementia & major memory lapses , I asked him who had beaten LHS in '37: "Bellfountain," he snarled.
