@AndrewYangVFA Andrew, that just shifts the problem to candidates campaigning primarily to swing states and everything follows suit in the same way you described. I think you need to reconsider this one.

The problem with deciding Presidential elections via popular vote is that candidates would naturally campaign in urban areas with big media markets and their policies would follow suit. Better to have proportional electoral college votes in each state so you campaign everywhere.

@MattGlantz @AndrewYangVFA I think that Andrew’s statement is always true, whereas yours is only true when most states are effectively locked one way or the other. Of course, this is the case presently, and may have a high probability of always being the case.

@DanOBrienPoker @AndrewYangVFA In the current environment, the electoral system only shifts the problem arbitrarily. It does nothing to fix it. Solutions need to be sought by candidates, not just shifting problems imo. And I would like Andrew to look intob it from a solution first point of view.

@MattGlantz @AndrewYangVFA Do you know what he means by the "proportional"? You might be thinking of something else. Swing States would not exist. As in winner takes all goes away and states EC votes would split depending on how the congressional district voted. Gerrymandering needs to be fixed also.

@MattGlantz @AndrewYangVFA I think you missed his point. There would be no more 'swing states' because the electors in each state would be pro-rated based on the state's popular vote. 49% to 51% splits the electors down the middle if there's an even number of electors... would tip the last one if odd.

@MattGlantz @AndrewYangVFA Actually the same issue would occur. Candidates would also want to drive up numbers in their strongest states
