PLEASE @FT , remove “the Caribbean” from this headline - no Caribbean country is mentioned in your article, we have Covid largely under control in most countries, and this unjust and misleading headline is potentially very damaging for the Caribbean. Please help @katie_martin_fx

@Marladukharan @FT @katie_martin_fx People don’t realise how much time has 2b taken 2correct the glib misrepresentions of countries & regions in the media; it’s easier with quality media but imagine the fight with those who don’t care/have a negative agenda. Much is done like this by citizens not govt

@Marladukharan @yzsooks @FT @katie_martin_fx For some reason the Caribbean is always grouped under Latin America. I believe it's a misconception between culture and geography.

@Marladukharan @FT @katie_martin_fx That segment does include 82 deaths recorded in the past week in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Puerto Rico and Cuba. But it's true that this is a very small number compared to Central and South America, so we have removed "Caribbean" from the label on that graphic.

@Marladukharan @FT @katie_martin_fx Please keep at it Marla. The Caribbean is grateful. So hard when they just lump us with Lat Am & our real situation becomes invisible or misrepresented 😞
