It's not often a watching brief finds a whole missing wing of a late medieval house with up to 8 wall courses. It's quite nice inside too. Fortunately they only want a patio here so we are getting them to put it within the medieval wall & excavating the soil & rubble in the room

@digginggardener The owners of the listed building are busy removing all modern wall surfaces and revealing a lot of new info. which is being recorded. Believed to be 15th c. in origin. It faces across the valley to Caergwrle Castle.

@MarkWalters_ @sarahj_64 That blocked doorway with a window has to be the perfect analogy of modern attitudes to books & history. Block it, make it redundant & most importantly, make it ugly.
