@MDaware I know I drank mine rather than having it injected... maybe that's what inspired the "took"?

@hagaroo47 “took” isn’t the issue- it’s the syntax should either be an article (“took the polio vaccine”) or plural (“took polio vaccines”)

@MDaware Didn't say "took polio vaccine". He said he "took multiple polio vaccines". The plural makes all the difference here. Eg I watched the movie. I watched many movies. "I watched movie" would be incorrect. The OT's Grammer is correct.

@MDaware My family, unfortunately, overrepresents people in America who have not taken it. My mom may be the only one of her siblings who had it, and it was after I was born.

@MDaware In 🇬🇧 the polio vaccine was routinely given to children orally, dripped on a sugar cube. Had a booster many years later, straight ..... yuk 😖! So 'took' is correct.

@MDaware No, the missing indefinite article points to a Russian speaker.

@MDaware Probably a reanalysis of "vaccine" as a mass noun. Not sure how widespread that is.

@MDaware "He was in hospital" is correct. You don't say "He was in the jail" or "He was in the university".

@MDaware Who are we saying was in hospital? I feel like I've stumbled into some drama without any context

@MDaware Mine were in sugar cubes (the one vaccination I liked!) and my daughter’s was liquid oral (she was a baby.)

@MDaware As a Briton I know we are actually saying "he was in the hospital", only 'the' is silent. Also, we haven't had a Polio case in the UK since the 90's because we still vaccinate against it as it is still spread in the rest of the world.
