A persisting hexagonal wave pattern around the north pole in the atmosphere was 1st noted in the Voyager images. The sides of the hexagon are  ≈ 14,500km\9,000mi, which is longer than the Earth's diameter. The pattern's origin is a matter of much speculation. #Astronomy Credit…

@MAstronomers No, there is a circular cloud formation, vortex, at the North pole. Easily seen in image. The Hexagon shaped jet stream is at lower latitudes. Very similar, but appears more stable, than Earths northern jet stream for example. A visualisation here...
