I can't drink without plastic straws. For years I've bought clear ones online (look a bit nicer than kids' ones). Since the straw ban they've got more expensive and now they've disappeared If your environmentalism only affects disabled people, it's not as progressive as you think

A pleasure to be involved with this important @libertyhq campaign to save the Human Rights Act Disabled people's rights are already so tenuous. If the HRA is scrapped, it'll only become easier to trample on them - and us

Just sickening Disabled people's right to choose - work, socialising, family life, even what to have for dinner - sacrificed in the name of cost cutting

A cash-starved council is proposing disabled people be interned in care homes if their social care is “too costly”. This is a story of savage public funding cuts but also of which people society deems to matter. My col. in today’s @guardian

Any disabled woman will tell you finding comfortable, fashionable shoes is a nightmare. Well, that's my excuse for now owning four pairs of converse in different colours, anyway

If we really want more people working, we need to change how we work Flexible hours, genuine wfh, accessible workplaces, and a recognition of disabled people's skills would all be good places to start Instead the govt just wants to force disabled people into unsuitable jobs

New ONS stats show that almost 3 million people are 'economically inactive' because of disability or poor health - it's a damning indictment of the state of our economy, public services & wider social support. This number will only grow if the government doesn't change course 1/3
