Doesn’t do that to me, have plenty of time to dedicate to other things. The day is long.
If it’s because you have kids then I understand, if not your time management skills are terrible or your waisting the day away without realizing it, just consider that.
truly sad the way adulthood kills all your hobbies. i’m lucky if i read 5 books a year. too tired to play guitar. too tired to cook beautiful meals.
we warn people not to make work their identity, but how can you not when work systematically strips away every other part of you?
@abstractcousin
@jzux
We’re wasting the day away because the stress and mental and emotional load of the workday leaves us drained. When your body is begging you to rest, you should rest. mentally we want to do things we enjoy, but work takes the bandwidth.
@abstractcousin
@jzux
what? you're not taking into consideration stress, commute, overtime.. family obligations? okay just because YOU are lucky enough to have time it absolutely is not a reality for most ppl. tf?

@jzux
The post started talking about hobbies, I just wanted to say you can always manage your time a little to play the guitar for 15 minutes 🤷🏻♀️
@abstractcousin
@jzux
Or you’re working more than one job to afford basic living conditions because you’re underpaid. Or you’re in an industry without defined ‘shift hours’ and work an 80hour week. Or you’re a carer (not just of children).… your privilege is showing here.

@jzux
Just saying i have a busy life and I don’t have the problem. Was just giving a little time management positivity to free up 15 minutes to play the guitar
@abstractcousin
@jzux
Time isn’t the only obstacle, it’s also bandwidth. Time management can only go so far when you’re already too mentally/emotionally exhausted and depleted from work to enjoy hobbies, especially if those hobbies require focus, learning, creativity, etc.
@jzux
So long story short I was homeless in my early 20s that’s how I learned time management. From where to poop (Taco Bell) , how to eat, what to wear at a job interview. How many times a week to pay for a hotel and get a shower… then I learned to get a gym membership for a shower.
@jzux
After getting 2 jobs and being clean from any drugsI had to find time to interact with my family so we are on good terms,more time management, finally rented a room and moved up from there and always having time for making music or playing instruments. Its how you do it now what
@abstractcousin
@jzux
Thats nice, I actually pursue my interests and hobbies after work and am completely exhausted most of the time as a result. Self care and destressing is a joke to me. Time is one thing, energy and health are another, making her original post still valid about work draining life.
@abstractcousin
Or maybe some people are just different or have different jobs/circumstances. If you have the energy to enjoy your leisure still, consider yourself lucky and try to
have empathy for those that don't.
@abstractcousin
@jzux
There are different jobs with different stress and tiredness level. We should look for better ones when possible, your comment feels dismissive though
