Exciting news. Yesterday we have had delivery of 32,000 white hens. #Whiteeggs are better for the #environment as they eat 55ton less feed and produce 6 Million more #eggs . Plus we run the farm on 100% renewable energy. Eggs will be in a @Tesco_Wales soon. #wearewelshfarming

@LlyrDerwydd @Tesco_Wales How robust are they in comparison to Lohmann Browns (who have fabulous immune systems) and any increased issues around pecking?

@LlyrDerwydd @Tesco_Wales Do you have battery storage for the night time electricity?

@DanPBrown @Tesco_Wales No I couldn’t make batteries pay back. So bought an electric car and a buggy. We can use the excess electric that we produce to save on diesel. Probably saving us £500/month.

@LlyrDerwydd @Tesco_Wales Do the general public except white eggs as well as brown eggs tho? or see them as a lesser quality egg? Takes some changing peoples shopping habits! Are they marketed on the shelf more expensive or cheaper than brown eggs? Good luck interesting to hear your experiences 👍

@clawddcocheggs @Tesco_Wales Good point. Selling them as a premium as we are a low carbon farm. Turn white go green 👍

@RyannArianwen @Tesco_Wales Yes. This is their house they Sleep, drink and feed. Usually when we don’t have bird flu the doors open at 9am till dusk so 11pm in mid summer. They get to roam over 40 acres in the woods open fields and enjoying being outdoors.

@LlyrDerwydd @Tesco_Wales Weird request. Do you have a picture of the packaging they'll be in? My brain remembers in pictures and I'd like to remember to buy your eggs.

@LlyrDerwydd @Tesco_Wales In my experience, egg processors prefer white eggs - they are more cost effective to produce than brown, depleted over 100 weeks, and egg processors will generally pay a very competitive rates, especially as the eggs are often separated into higher value products such as yolks

@LlyrDerwydd @Tesco_Wales Interesting. Are you getting a premium? When we looked into it there certainly wasn't. Please do update on here!

@LlyrDerwydd @Tesco_Wales If they lay white eggs, I’m guessing they’re a leghorn hybrid? Great layers if they are.
