This is the real reason we shear our sheep there is no financial gain for us only welfare of the sheep. If we had left her alone like @PETAUK are telling us to she would of died in 4-5 days eaten alive by the maggots we found. Don't believe #petalies

@LlyrDerwydd @TechieLass @PETAUK I have no problem with the shearing, but the fact that it is nessesary bothers me. It seems wrong to me, when animals are bread to the point, where the individual animals would suffer horrible deaths without human help. Perhaps it is time to bread some all that wool away again?

@imbrunsgaard @TechieLass @PETAUK I would happily have sheep that don't need shearing Inger. We lose around £700 a year because we need to shear the sheep. I certainly don't breed sheep because of their wool only do it for Welfare.

@LlyrDerwydd @RosewoodFarms @PETAUK I'm not a fan of PETA, but I don't think they argue that it's necessarily cruel to sheer a sheep. They object to selectively breeding sheep to overproduce wool, and to rely on humans to sheer them. Their wild ancestors (Mouflon) are independent enough to shed their own wool

@LlyrDerwydd @PETAUK Only when done right, there's plenty of vile cases AND footage of examples of when this practice is done in a barbaric way

@food_sm @PETAUK Yes your right Sarah. I've been shearing for 25 years and never seen that sort of practice. They would be asked to leave my farm straight away. Happy for you to come and see what we do here. 👍

@LlyrDerwydd @1GarethWynJones @PETAUK Fly strike can be nasty and sometimes you can’t see if the sheep got them, we corvet the lambs and ewes after they are clipped as well

@LlyrDerwydd @PETAUK If there is no financial gain, why do you keep them? Can you link the specific page on which peta tells you to leave them alone?

@LlyrDerwydd @PETAUK It's no good knocking when there's no one home as my mother says. You will never explain this to vegans or animal rights terrorist because in their eyes all farmers and meat eaters are below human.

@LlyrDerwydd @PETAUK I can't believe the amount of people commenting on this thread that believe what they read rather than the people who clearly live and work in the countryside.
