@LetterB @emrazz I think a big part of the problem is that men never learn how to deal with discomfort and so they try to avoid it at all costs. Teaching boys how to manage those feelings will serve them (and everyone else) well.

Men don’t ask for affirmative consent because the risk of hurting you is less important than the risk you’ll say no. I’m sorry.

@emrazz This is an excellent lens for teaching boys to ask for affirmative consent. That a "no" will hurt them less than the alternative, even if it feels uncomfortable. I'll be sharing it with my teenage boy today.

@LissaJStrange @LetterB @emrazz Exactly. We don’t discuss rejection and how to deal with it (in many spheres of life)

@wicked_wisdom @LetterB @emrazz I agree. Rejection offers us an opportunity to learn about ourselves and how we can’t control everything.

@LissaJStrange @LetterB @emrazz Maybe if they were to think about what their partner wants and what makes their partner comfortable or uncomfortable rather than focusing on themselves, it might make managing the situation easier?
