Non-expansionist "empires" rarely collapse. The collapse of imperial empires (the Roman Empire is a good example), generally occurs when they militarily gobble up far-flung countries, only to discover the cost of maintaining them is greater than the revenue they generate.

Demographics are destiny. The first picture is official CCP data and the second is a 2030 projection. China needs to deal with the same problem Japan did in the 1990s with only half the tools available.
